WILD STATUS
Least Concern.

DISTRIBUTION
East-central Brazil.

SIZE
Length: Body approximately 20 cm (8 in). Tail 26-28 cm (10-11 in)
Weight: 190-350 g

HABITAT
Lowland tropical and subtropical rainforest

REPRODUCTION
Usually twins but occasionally singles and triplets are born to the dominant female after a gestation of approximately 140-148 days.

DIET
Fruits, plant sap and gum, insects and occasionally small invertebrates and animals.

INTERESTING TIDBITS
  • Geoffroy’s Marmosets are also known as Geoffroy’s tuft-eared marmoset, white-faced marmoset, and white-fronted marmoset.
  • They are diurnal, monogamous, and live in family groups of eight to ten, led by a dominant female.
  • Their lifespan in the wild is approximately 10 years and up to 14 years in captivity.
  • They have sharp incisor teeth which allow them to make small holes in trees to access the sap and gum held within.
